On Saturday night next week, I will be barely recovering from the great Peel Estate Shiraz Tasting, a blind tasting of the 20 greatest shirazes of the 2005 vintage (I'm not even going to contemplate the fact that I have to attend DJ Dow's 10th wedding anniversary party in the evening, which will be absolutely massive).
A panel of highly respected wine judges and critics have tasted hundreds of wines from around the world and picked the 20 best wines. One would expect both the Grange and Hill of Grace to be there, but I'm also looking forward to some elegant Old Word French and Italian syrahs.
Held at Peel Estate Winery, about half an hour's drive south of Perth (depending on how fast you're driving), the who's who of wine w@nk in Western Australia and beyond make the annual pilgrimage to partake from the cup the runneth over.
Spittoon? Not bloody likely, I say!
